Olympic Mountains, West of Quilcene, WA

On 24 May 2014 I randomly drove west from Renton, WA by way of Highway 3, then over on Highway 104 and finally south on highway 101. I stopped at a local gift/coffee shop and asked the locals about ways to get up into the mountains. They were very helpful, as they almost always are, and pointed me to a certain trail where he’s seen other Overlander’s go. It was a fantastic first jaunt into the Olympics. Lots of trails with plenty of branches to explore. It was sunny and warm down on highway 101 but it quickly got cooler and foggy as I rose in elevation. The trails are in excellent shape with several vistas.
